Job Overview
This position reports to the Product Engineering & Reliability Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for mechanical designs, including sheet metal, plastics, thermal and environmental management, and agency compliance. This role involves creating and maintaining mechanical models and CAD drawings to support PE functions. The estimated annual salary for this position is $85,000 - $110,000, depending on experience. Key Responsibilities
* Responsible for mechanical designs, including sheet metal, plastics, thermal and environmental management, and agency compliance
* Create and maintain mechanical models and CAD drawings to support PE functions
* Monitor designs for product improvements, analyze, and perform corrective actions for field quality issues. Write and implement ECNs related to these issues
* Perform testing to validate designs, qualify critical components, and verify agency compliance
* Support design changes at the product platform level with the Global Product Engineering Team
* Participate in quality problem-solving activities to resolve customer and production issues. Assist implementation of quality improvement and cost reduction activities

Required Skills and Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar with 0-2 years of relevant experience through employment or internship; experience with mechanical design in a manufacturing environment preferred
* Knowledge of inverters or similar power conversion equipment, electrical enclosures, or manufacturing of electrical products a plus
* Proficient with software design tools such as AutoCAD, Creo/Solidworks
* Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, product configuration tables, and tools, and bills of materials, especially in conjunction with an ERP system (SAP)
* Ability and confidence to make recommendations, gather and analyze data, and present findings to the local and global PE teams
