As a Research Scientist within the Pharmaceutical Development Steriles team, you will leverage your technical expertise to innovate drug product formulations and their corresponding manufacturing processes, collaborating with a diverse technical team. Your creative problem-solving skills will be essential in the development of various sterile dosage forms.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the pre- and post-development phases by formulating and screening effective drug product compositions for a range of dosage forms, including but not limited to nanosuspensions, hydrogels, emulsions, controlled release implants, and lyophilized products.
  • Conduct preformulation, formulation, and process development activities in accordance with established protocols.
  • Participate in the production of product batches for process development, stability assessments, or clinical evaluations as needed.
  • Coordinate with Pharmaceutical Development and analytical teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Collaborate with the technical team to synchronize and execute formulation and process development tasks, including the preparation of manufacturing batch records.
  • Identify and analyze issues arising during experimental processes, communicating findings to supervisors.
  • Engage proactively with fellow scientists to troubleshoot and resolve challenges.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in personal and shared workspaces.
  • Anticipate potential equipment or supply issues, initiating corrective actions as necessary.
  • Operate laboratory equipment independently, adhering to GMP and safety standards.
  • Document laboratory data accurately and timely in compliance with company policies.
  • Manage data effectively, ensuring results are recorded in accordance with departmental guidelines.
  • Prepare summaries of results with interpretations for project-related work.
  • Contribute to the writing of technical sections for internal and external reports under supervision.
  • Participate in regular safety training and adhere to safety protocols in the laboratory environment.
  • Maintain accurate safety records in line with company policies.
  • Recognize and address potential safety hazards proactively.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant life sciences field with 8+ years of experience, or a PhD in a related discipline with 4+ years of experience.
In certain instances, a combination of relevant education, training, and experience may be deemed sufficient to fulfill the role's requirements.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong foundation in general chemistry and separation science.
  • Proficient in formulation and process development techniques.
  • Experience in accurately handling, recording, and analyzing scientific data.
  • Operational knowledge of standard laboratory equipment.
  • Understanding of principles and methodologies relevant to the work performed.
  • Experience in developing aqueous suspensions; familiarity with wet bead milling, microfluidization, and homogenization equipment is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a GMP environment, particularly with sterile products, is highly desirable.
  • Ability to conduct independent literature searches and comprehend scientific literature pertinent to experiments.
  • Comprehensive understanding of laboratory requirements, PPD & client SOPs, ICH guidelines, USP standards, and FDA regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word for task execution.
  • Familiarity with technical operating systems.
  • Demonstrated technical writing proficiency.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Capability to mentor junior staff.
