Job Summary:
Barracudas Activity Day Camps is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Group Leader 10+ to join our team. As a Group Leader 10+, you will be responsible for leading a group of children aged 10 and above, ensuring their safety and well-being, and delivering a fun and engaging experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Group Management: Assist with the setup and maintenance of a suitable base room area, ensuring it is inviting and safe for the children.
- Activity Planning: Follow policies and procedures to ensure a fun and safe environment for the children, and plan and deliver a variety of activities with structure and enthusiasm.
- Child Supervision: Ensure the needs of the children in your care are met with active supervision and attention throughout the day, including breaks and lunch times.
- Teamwork: Work with other members of staff to deliver sessions and encourage maximum participation of the children in the group.
- Safety and Welfare: Take responsibility for the general welfare and safeguarding of the children, and ensure the safe use of equipment provided for your sessions.
Requirements:
- Experience: Have experience or qualifications working with secondary school-aged children.
- Age: Be aged 18 or over by the start date of your contract.
- Eligibility: Be eligible to work in the UK.
- References: Provide satisfactory professional/academic references.
- Skills: Be enthusiastic, caring, and organized with excellent communication skills and be able to use your initiative.
- Adaptability: Be able to adapt to effectively deal with unpredictable challenges within a childcare setting.
- DBS Check: Obtain an enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or have an existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
- Training: Complete Online Training annually.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Health and Safety: Ensure that the company fulfils all its Health and Safety obligations by carefully following instructions and showing a proactive and diligent approach to all safety issues.
- Activity Planning: Any activities that you organize or deliver must be appropriate for the children in your care within the scope of your qualifications, skills, and knowledge.
- Child Behavior: Ensure the children under your supervision behave in a safe manner, always know their whereabouts, respect them as individuals, and communicate with them daily about codes of behavior.
- Camp Systems: Carefully follow all camp systems, including registration and collection procedures, and Health and Safety systems and all guidelines on good practice in child welfare.
- Positive Role Model: Be a positive role model to the children in your care by promoting a healthy lifestyle, good hygiene precautions, and always considering their welfare.
- Child Protection: Report any concerns regarding Child Protection to your Management Team or the Designated Person at the Central Office.
- Additional Needs: Make reasonable adjustments to accommodate and understand the requirements of children in your group who may have additional needs (including dietary needs) or a medical condition.
- Skills Builder Sessions: Pending staff availability, you may be required to deliver Skills Builder sessions.
- Swimming Sessions: All staff may be required to support a swimming session – you will need to bring swimwear and a spare t-shirt will be provided at camp.
