Job Summary:

The Environmental Technician will perform removal, enclosure, encapsulation, and/or other methods of eliminating and controlling hazardous material or hazardous environmental conditions including asbestos and lead. Must follow IOSHA, EPA, and IDEM regulations. Respond on a 24-hour basis to water leaks/floods, chemical spills, accidents, and emergencies. May involve exposure to heights, extreme temperatures, hazardous chemicals, close spaces, and lifting requirements up to 80 pounds.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform removal, enclosure, encapsulation, and/or other methods of eliminating and controlling hazardous material or hazardous environmental conditions
Follow IOSHA, EPA, and IDEM regulations
Respond on a 24-hour basis to water leaks/floods, chemical spills, accidents, and emergencies

Requirements:

High School Degree or High School Equivalency (HSE)
Three (3) years of experience in either asbestos, mold, construction, or water restoration, or a combination of the four areas
Must successfully pass an accredited asbestos worker exam every year to conform with Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration (IOSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) regulations
Good verbal and written communication skills required

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of the terminology, functions, and operating procedures of negative air pressure units, high pressure units, high pressure sprayers, and various hand and power tools and equipment
