Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiovascular Technologist to join our team at Ochsner Health System. As a Cardiovascular Technologist, you will be responsible for operating diagnostic fluoroscopy equipment, monitoring patient vitals, and performing routine calculations. You will also assist the physician upon request and prepare the procedure rooms, equipment, and patient for the procedure.

Responsibilities

  • Operate monitoring and recording devices under physician direction to obtain necessary medical data and ensure patient safety.
  • Operate Radiographic fluoroscopy equipment to obtain diagnostic images of coronary artery disease and peripheral vascular disease.
  • Order equipment in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
  • Turn on all the radiographic equipment in the AM.
  • Assist nurse in checking patient in.
  • Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in health sciences or related field.
  • Registered Radiologic Technologist or Registered Cardiovascular Technologist in the state of practice AND registration from The American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, anatomy, physiology, or related field.
  • 2 years of experience as an allied health professional.
  • Registered Cardiac Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification.

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Must be able to move throughout and between facilities. Must be able to stoop, bend, reach and grab with arms and hands, manual dexterity. Must be able to work flexible schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability).

Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue.
