Moms Clean Air Force | Environmental Defense Fund is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Florida Environmental Advocate. This is a remote part-time contract position open to applicants residing in the Greater Tampa Bay or Jacksonville areas.
Key Responsibilities- Build a Strong Coalition: Develop a diverse group of activists and stakeholders in Florida to build public and political support for equitable state and federal solutions to address environmental justice, air pollution, and climate change.
- Represent Moms Clean Air Force: Work with a coalition of partner organizations to engage and collaborate on policy priorities and objectives to further clean energy and clean transportation investments in Florida.
- Advance Environmental Justice: Advocate for environmental justice and equity in low-income communities, frontline communities, and communities of color.
- Plan and Execute Meetings: Plan and execute meetings and grassroots events to educate, build relationships, and create visibility of Moms Clean Air Force, including our EcoMadres program, in Florida.
- Engage Membership: Engage Moms Clean Air Force membership through online platforms, including action alerts, emails, and social media.
- Cultivate Volunteers: Cultivate and educate volunteers to build diverse constituencies of support for policy priorities.
- Lead Advocacy Efforts: Lead visits with elected leaders and agencies to advocate policy priorities.
- Organize Advocacy Meetings: Mobilize volunteers to communicate and engage with elected officials, decision-makers, and other stakeholders on the need for policies and regulations to protect communities from air pollution and climate change.
- Increase Visibility: Increase the visibility of Moms Clean Air Force on issues related to clean energy and clean transportation through media.
- Strong Commitment: Strong commitment to clean air and climate change solutions.
- General Understanding: General understanding of Florida environmental issues and politics.
- Self-Motivated: Self-motivated, innovative, with the ability to work independently.
- Excellent Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with the public, elected officials, and partner organizations.
- Familiarity with Online Tools: Familiarity working with online advocacy tools, websites, and social media.
- Minimum 2 Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years of political and community engagement experience preferred.
- Well-Organized: Well-organized, detail-oriented, goal-driven, and able to prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a positive, timely manner in a fast-paced environment.
- Cultural Competency: Demonstrates self-awareness, cultural competency, inclusivity, and ability to work with others across diverse cultures and backgrounds.
