Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Operative Preparation: Review preference cards and verify case carts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Surgical Field Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized surgical field, passing instruments and supplies efficiently to the surgeon.
  • Procedure Support: Anticipate and prioritize the needs of the surgeon and surgical team during procedures.
  • Counting and Accountability: Participate in sponge, needle, and instrument counts as required by procedure.
  • Surgical Specimen Management: Maintain surgical specimens in a manner that preserves their integrity for pathology evaluation.
  • Supply Management: Assist in ordering and stocking specialty supplies under the direction of management staff and departmental guidelines.
  • Transportation and Delivery: Transport and deliver items, equipment, and medications throughout the facility.
Requirements
  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Training: Successful completion of a surgical technology training program, U.S. Military Medical Core Training, or an equivalent on-the-job training program.
  • Licensure/Certification: BLS/HealthCare Provider certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Experience: Dependent on level offered (Level I/Entry, Level II, or Level III).
