Position Summary

The Concrete Operations Supervisor is essential in collaborating with the Multi-Plant Manager to oversee all facets of the ready mix plant, focusing on safety, environmental compliance, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, maintenance, inventory oversight, performance metrics, quality assurance, financial outcomes, employee relations, and community engagement. This role ensures the maintenance of equipment and materials necessary for concrete production and guarantees the timely delivery of products to clients. The supervisor is responsible for the safety of all personnel, including plant staff, mechanics, and drivers, and reports directly to the General Manager, providing necessary updates and reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates and leads monthly and quarterly staff meetings, emphasizing a culture of safety.
  • Ensures compliance with safety equipment usage throughout the plant.
  • Coordinates with the safety coordinator/general manager for regular plant and vehicle inspections.
  • Directly oversees drivers, plant operators, and yard attendants, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Maintains accountability for the accuracy of Mixer Operators' loads and payroll hours.
  • Monitors loading times and collaborates with Mixer Operators to ensure timely job site arrivals.
  • Conducts daily pre-shift inspections to verify equipment functionality.
  • Performs periodic inspections to assess equipment and maintenance needs.
  • Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization in the plant, batch office, and appearance of drivers and equipment.
  • Demonstrates initiative and a commitment to promoting sound business practices.
  • Exhibits independent decision-making skills, prioritizing conflicting demands and effectively communicating with various team members.
  • Capable of making decisions that align with company policies and programs, while managing multiple tasks and communications.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods, stand, stoop, and bend as required.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and adapt to irregular schedules.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs from ground to waist level.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED; a 2-year degree is preferred, along with 5 years of experience in concrete and related products.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing in English is required; bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Preferred experience includes 3 years in maintenance and supervisory roles and 2+ years driving a concrete truck.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Possession of a valid driver's license (preferably a C.D.L.).
  • Current knowledge of D.O.T., O.S.H.A., EPA, and other regulatory agency standards.
  • Ability to lead, instruct, motivate, coach, and enforce discipline.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships across all levels of management and staff.
  • Able to work in various weather conditions and during times of limited visibility.
  • Must have manual dexterity for tool use and possess adequate vision and hearing.

Physical requirements include the ability to lift 50 lbs from ground to waist level.
