Key Responsibilities

**Promote Safety:** Take proactive measures to prioritize safety for yourself and your colleagues, ensuring that all designated facilities achieve zero accidents and adhere to all Vulcan policies and procedures.

**Manage Employee Relations:** Provide effective leadership, training, team building, and oversight to all operational staff within your area to bolster the operational functions of the business. Offer guidance on recruitment, training, development, and retention strategies for personnel.

**Maintain Compliance:** Ensure that all assigned facilities comply with Vulcan's safety and operational policies. Collaborate closely with company resources to keep all current and future permits and reclamation plans updated to facilitate the expansion of mining operations. Ensure that materials meet specifications and quality standards.

**Develop Strategy:** Formulate short and long-term business strategies and actions to achieve them. Create an annual operating budget that encompasses production volume and capital enhancements. Collaborate with sales and operations teams to drive revenue and increase market share.

**Manage Process Improvement:** Lead process improvement initiatives for assigned facilities to ensure productivity and efficiency targets are met. Establish and evaluate performance standards for technical support teams.

**Ensure Economic Profit:** Oversee the annual budgeting process. Ensure that assigned facilities meet or surpass budgetary goals and objectives, enhance asset returns, and direct the capital budget for each site to guarantee that all capital projects are executed according to approved financial estimates.

**Coach and Guide Others:** Exhibit strong leadership capabilities by inspiring and mentoring all employees. Set performance benchmarks for staff and monitor their progress.

Qualifications

**Essential Skills:**

**Experience:** A minimum of 5 years in the industry (aggregates, ready-mix concrete, and asphalt) with a proven record of progressive responsibility and successful operations management is preferred.

**Leadership and Management Skills:** Ability to provide robust leadership and direction to employees, both direct and indirect reports, to inspire and maintain positive interpersonal relationships.

**Operational Knowledge:** Must demonstrate a solid understanding of rock and sand mining, ready-mix concrete, and/or asphalt operations and equipment, along with MSHA regulations, engineering principles, and quality control systems.

**Interpersonal Skills:** Must be an effective motivator and team builder, capable of establishing strong social connections and communicating effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.

**Financial Acumen:** Must possess knowledge and experience in managing financial performance against established targets, consistently meeting or exceeding performance goals.
