Position Overview
The Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader is tasked with overseeing and managing maintenance operations, with a strong emphasis on mechanical maintenance activities. This role is pivotal in ensuring that preventative and corrective maintenance on critical machinery, including pumps and centrifugal systems, is executed efficiently to uphold our standards of quality, reliability, safety, and cost-effectiveness. The Team Leader fosters a safety-oriented culture by exemplifying best practices, establishing clear expectations, and encouraging positive behaviors throughout daily operations. Compliance with all company policies and procedures is paramount, alongside the identification of improvement opportunities and the formulation of actionable plans to address them.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure a safe and healthy work environment by identifying hazards, providing employee training, and promoting safety awareness across the facility.
- Implement corrective measures to mitigate safety risks and maintenance issues, enhancing the continuous availability of refinery equipment.
- Review, authorize, and schedule maintenance work orders, ensuring resource allocation and inspecting work for accuracy and timeliness.
- Coordinate daily maintenance activities to maximize equipment uptime while effectively utilizing available resources.
- Develop and execute a strategic maintenance plan, guiding personnel to optimize repair efficiency.
- Monitor maintenance operations to ensure adherence to quality and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Establish and manage a preventative maintenance program aligned with manufacturer and engineering guidelines, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
- Collaborate with external vendors for equipment and parts procurement, collecting technical data for modifications or replacements.
- Analyze costs and implement strategies to minimize unnecessary expenditures.
- Supervise special maintenance and engineering projects, ensuring high-quality workmanship and assisting in the preparation of relevant documentation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in all work areas and equipment.
- Review timekeeping records for accuracy.
- Conduct daily safety checks and lead monthly safety meetings.
- Prepare and monitor scheduling and budget for contracted and major maintenance projects.
- Assist in the development of maintenance work plans for scheduled outages.
- Proficient knowledge of mechanical systems related to rotating and fixed equipment; electrical knowledge is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods and the ability to interpret vibration and oil analysis reports.
- Computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office.
- Experience with scheduling, planning, and maintenance management systems (CMMS) is beneficial.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Capability to operate standard office equipment.
- Commitment to staying updated on technological advancements in the field.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to work rotating weekends and potential overtime, including 2nd and 3rd shifts.
- A minimum of five years of relevant experience is required.
- Three years of supervisory experience in maintenance is preferred.
- Prior experience in a machine shop or equipment garage setting is advantageous.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
