The Care Partner collaborates harmoniously and respectfully with residents, colleagues, families, visitors, and volunteers to foster a supportive and enjoyable atmosphere within the home. This role involves addressing the physical, social, and environmental needs of residents in accordance with facility policies, quality improvement standards, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations. The STNA Care Partner actively encourages residents to engage in everyday life activities, enhancing and/or preserving their functional abilities. The Care Partner plays a vital role in resident-centered care and team-oriented management, participating in daily living activities within their designated household(s).

Essential Physical Demands:
Success in this role requires the following skills:

  • Ability to implement and assess the effectiveness of resident care programs.
  • Patience, effective listening, and both verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Respect for all individuals - residents, coworkers, family members, medical professionals, volunteers, and visitors.
  • Commitment to maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in living and work areas.
  • Flexibility to adapt job duties for the overall benefit of the home and its residents.

Working in a long-term care environment can be challenging due to various stresses, including shift rotations, weekend and holiday duties, managing unusual resident behaviors, family dynamics, and interactions with regulatory officials.

Mobility Requirements:
- Ability to move freely.

Lifting Requirements:
- Regularly lift up to 50 lbs.

Climbing/Balancing:
- Regularly required.

Stooping/Bending:
- Regularly required.

Pushing:
- Regularly push up to 25 lbs.

Standing/Sitting:
- Regularly stand, sit, and walk.

Reaching:
- Regularly required.

Communication Skills:
- Must be able to speak, read, and write in English clearly.

Vision & Hearing:
- Must possess adequate vision and hearing or use assistive devices to meet the position's requirements.

In accordance with ADA guidelines, reasonable accommodations will be provided for staff members unable to perform essential job functions.

Minimum Qualifications:
- State Tested Nursing Assistant certification in Ohio, listed on the registry or eligible for testing; training in food sanitation, housekeeping practices, restorative nursing, and resident activities. Must be free from illegal drug use and the effects of drugs and alcohol in the workplace. Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English is essential.
