InsideHigherEd is seeking qualified candidates for the full-time role of Dean of Student Affairs. This position is pivotal as the Chief Officer of Student Affairs, responsible for leading, managing, and overseeing the budget for the Student Affairs division. The Dean will provide strategic vision, planning, and leadership to effectively integrate enrollment management, advising, and student success initiatives across the institution.

This role is crucial in shaping policies and processes that influence all facets of student recruitment, admissions, retention, completion, and conduct.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and evaluate comprehensive Student Affairs programs and initiatives, including:
    • Long-term and mid-term strategies to enhance student success, recruitment, enrollment, and retention.
    • A data-driven Strategic Enrollment Management Plan aligned with the institution's mission and strategic objectives.
    • An annual retention strategy that fosters outreach and builds strategic partnerships.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant federal, state, and institutional regulations affecting students.
  • Manage outreach programs, including College Credit Plus and other enrollment initiatives.
  • Lead the integration of recruitment, retention, and completion strategies by developing innovative enrollment approaches to sustain and enhance enrollment.
  • Facilitate a comprehensive student journey from initial contact through to graduation.
  • Assist in crafting grant proposals to secure funding for specific programs from external sources.
  • Analyze enrollment trends and propose strategic interventions to boost enrollment and retention.
  • Collaborate with academic and student affairs personnel to address and resolve student conduct matters.
  • Oversee Student Life initiatives, including the development and assessment of support services and student resource centers.
  • Manage and advise the student government program in the absence of a faculty advisor.
  • Coordinate support for student clubs and their leadership.
  • Administer the Student Emergency Fund.
  • Act as Deputy Title IX Coordinator, including compliance with Anti-Hazing regulations:
    • Develop and deliver Title IX and Anti-Hazing training programs.
    • Participate in Title IX investigations and training.
    • Coordinate initiatives to promote a safe campus culture.
  • Oversee and manage the Student Affairs budget.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Provost.

Qualifications:

  • Proven expertise and commitment to contemporary practices in student services, enrollment enhancement, and retention strategies.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing student success and retention initiatives.
  • Strong management capabilities, including budgeting and personnel management, along with excellent verbal, written, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to effectively lead and manage organizational change.

Experience Required:

  • A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in higher education, preferably in a community college setting.
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience in Student Affairs within a higher education context, with community college experience preferred.

Educational Requirements:

  • A Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in a relevant field.
