Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Anesthesiologist to join our team at Virginia Commonwealth University. The successful candidate will provide general anesthesia care to patients, advance research and quality improvement in anesthesiology and perioperative medicine, and train the next generation of anesthesiologists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide preanesthetic evaluation, intraoperative anesthetic care, postoperative rounds, resuscitation, and intensive care to patients.
  • Direct the activities of nurse anesthetists as assigned by the Department Chair or delegate.
  • Teach and mentor residents, medical students, student nurse anesthetists, and others in clinical settings.
  • Pursue clinical or laboratory research and other scholarly interests independently.
  • Participate in clinical trials and serve on departmental, School of Medicine, University, or VCU Health System committees as requested.
Requirements
  • MD or DO degree.
  • ABA Board eligible/certified in Anesthesiology.
  • Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in Virginia.
  • Eligible for employment in the United States.
  • Good communication, clinical, and teaching skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position with a 12-month appointment. The successful candidate will be expected to work in a fast-paced clinical environment and maintain a high level of professionalism and expertise.
