Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Anesthesiologist to join our team at the School of Medicine. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional anesthetic and critical care to our patients, advancing research and quality improvement in anesthesiology and perioperative medicine, and training the next generation of anesthesiologists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality anesthetic care to patients in various settings, including the main OR and ambulatory areas.
  • Supervise and direct Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) as needed.
  • Participate in clinical trials and pursue clinical or laboratory research in anesthesiology and perioperative medicine.
  • Teach and mentor residents, medical students, and student nurse anesthetists in a clinical setting.
  • Contribute to departmental, School of Medicine, University, and VCU Health System committees as requested or determined by individual interest.
Requirements
  • MD or DO degree.
  • ABA Board eligible/certified in Anesthesiology and/or certified/eligible for Critical Care Certification.
  • Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in Virginia.
  • Eligible for employment in the United States.
  • Excellent communication, clinical, and teaching skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
