Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:This is a full-time role. Typical working days are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is possible, but availability during peak hours is essential.   • As a Grain Handling Specialist, you will adhere to company policies, procedures, and governmental regulations while actively participating in safety programs.
  • Perform essential tasks to ensure the facility operates smoothly.
  • This role involves assisting in the unloading, loading, and transferring of grain and grain products via truck and rail operations.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the products handled and their hazardous properties.
  • Gain knowledge of the operation of conveyance equipment used in the shipping, receiving, and transferring of grain and grain products, along with the associated safety systems.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service through courteous, knowledgeable, and helpful interactions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in the grain handling area, including tunnels, head house, concrete grounds, and grass areas, as well as other designated areas within the facility.
  • Monitor equipment to ensure proper functioning, participate in facility and equipment maintenance, and report any necessary repairs or concerns to management. Address choke-ups, clean spills, and follow safety protocols during these tasks.
  • Be an engaged team member, willing to think and act independently.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment for the Grain Handling Specialist:This position operates in an outdoor setting, with exposure to grain dust, various weather conditions, and heavy machinery activity. The role may require working at heights up to 150 feet, necessitating the use of harnesses and other safety equipment in certain situations. Physical Demands for the Grain Handling Specialist:The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively. The employee frequently stands, walks, uses hands for handling, and reaches with arms. Must be capable of working in confined spaces, climbing ladders, handling heights up to 150 feet, and enduring all weather conditions. This is a manual labor position requiring the ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly. A strong safety orientation is essential.
