Key Responsibilities
The Surgical Support Specialist will:
- Deliver safe and therapeutic care by collaborating with surgeons and the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes during operations.
- Adopt a patient-centered approach, catering to individuals with diverse diagnoses.
- Exhibit effective communication and teamwork skills, fostering a cooperative environment.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to peers, serving as a resource and preceptor.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Surgical Support Specialist or 2 years as a Surgical Technologist.
- Preferred experience in neuro spine and robotic procedures.
- Licensure as a Surgical Assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia at the time of hire.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Strong English communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and demonstrate sound judgment in daily tasks.
- Knowledge of infection control and hospital safety protocols.
- A current credential as a surgical assistant or surgical first assistant from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or the National Commission for Certification of Surgical Assistants (NCCSA).
