Position Overview

The Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) is seeking a Senior Research Scientist to contribute to our esteemed research department, the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Research Institute (MAPRI). This full-time role is designed for a professional with significant experience in cancer health services research.

In this capacity, the Senior Research Scientist will be responsible for the conception and execution of substantial research initiatives related to cancer epidemiology and health services. This is not a laboratory-based position; rather, it focuses on applied research aimed at improving cancer care delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Craft and advance a pioneering research agenda centered on cancer care outcomes, collaborating with external stakeholders as necessary.
  • Develop and submit grant proposals to secure funding from various sources, including federal agencies and private foundations.
  • Work closely with interdisciplinary research teams, including data analysts and biostatisticians, to ensure the successful completion of research projects.
  • Publish findings in reputable peer-reviewed journals and present research at national conferences.
  • Provide expert consultation on research design and analysis for internal studies.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in a relevant field such as epidemiology, health services research, or a related discipline, or an MD/DO with an advanced degree.
  • A minimum of seven years of post-doctoral research experience in cancer epidemiology or a related area, ideally within a healthcare system.
  • A robust record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Proven success in obtaining extramural research funding.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage multiple original research projects and disseminate results effectively.
  • Willingness to commute as required.
