Position Overview:
The Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner specializing in Psychiatry is tasked with delivering comprehensive medical and psychological care to patients, guided by a physician's directives in accordance with established practice standards.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough medical histories, physical assessments, and preventive health measures, including initial psychological evaluations, admissions, and discharges for assigned patients.
- Facilitate consultations and act as a liaison throughout the healthcare facility.
- Perform daily patient rounds as directed by the supervising physician.
- Prescribe medications and provide clinical assessments, diagnoses, and therapeutic interventions, including individual, group, and family therapy.

Collaboration:
Work in partnership with the medical and clinical staff, adhering to state licensure guidelines for Nurse Practitioners.

Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on Family Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Nurse with the relevant patient population.

Licensure and Certifications:

  • Active Nurse Practitioner license as per state regulations, which may include a current DEA license.

Essential Duties:
- Collect, develop, and assess age-appropriate patient data in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team for physician use in treatment planning.
- Evaluate and reassess the physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs of patients, formulating appropriate care measures.
- Prioritize patient care planning based on assessments and initial evaluations, contributing to the Master Treatment Plan.

Family Engagement:
Encourage family participation in patient care and address educational needs through patient teaching.

Clinical Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and manage acute, episodic, or chronic conditions, either independently or as part of a healthcare team.
- Document relevant data, including assessments, interventions, and evaluations, in compliance with facility guidelines.

Collaboration and Implementation:
- Work with physicians and staff to establish realistic outcome goals.
- Implement necessary healthcare interventions following the prescriptive practices of Family Nurse Practitioners or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners.

Additional Duties:
- Prepare discharge summaries for physician review.
- Under collaborative practice agreements, manage medication prescriptions as permitted.
- Collaborate with nutrition therapy staff to assess dietary intake and related issues as necessary.

On-Call Responsibilities:
Provide on-call support as scheduled by medical staff.

Focus Areas:
Emphasize health promotion and disease prevention. Order, perform, or interpret diagnostic tests such as laboratory work and imaging studies. Prescribe medications within the scope of practice guidelines.
