The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is tasked with delivering comprehensive medical and psychological care to patients, operating under the supervision of a physician in accordance with established practice guidelines.
This role involves conducting thorough medical histories, physical assessments, and preventive health measures, as well as initial psychological evaluations, admissions, and discharges for designated patients. The practitioner will also provide consultation and support throughout the healthcare facility, engaging in individual, group, and family therapy sessions.
Key Responsibilities:- Prioritize and organize patient care based on assessments and evaluations, fostering family participation in the treatment process.
- Diagnose and manage acute, episodic, or chronic conditions, either independently or as part of a collaborative healthcare team.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient evaluations, ensuring compliance with facility standards.
- Work alongside physicians and other healthcare professionals to set realistic outcome goals as necessary.
- Implement suitable healthcare interventions, adhering to the prescriptive practices of Family Nurse Practitioners (FNP) or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNP).
- Collaborate with nutrition therapy staff to assess dietary intake and related issues as required.
- Fulfill on-call duties as scheduled by the medical team.
- Emphasize health promotion and disease prevention strategies.
- A Master of Science in Nursing with a specialty in Family Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from an accredited institution is mandatory.
- A minimum of one year of experience as a registered nurse with the relevant patient demographic is required.
