Integrated Photonics Specialist

We are seeking an exceptional Integrated Photonics Specialist to join our team at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a key member of our Research and Exploratory Development (RED) Mission Area, you will use computational approaches to optimize the design of custom PIC components, leverage software tools to layout PICs for quick-turn manufacturing, and develop and maintain APL's internal component/sub-system library for fabless PIC manufacturing.
About the JobTo be successful in this role, you will need a Master's degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering, 1+ year experience building integrated, fiber-optical and free-space photonics systems, and working experience with scientific programming tools like MATLAB and Python. A Ph.D. in a field related to integrated photonics is preferred, as well as experience in physics-based modeling of photonic components using tools from COMSOL, MEEP/MBP, Tidy3D, Ansys Lumerical, etc.
The salary range for this position is estimated to be around $130,000 - $170,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
