Job Description:

We are seeking a Research Engineer for Photonic Devices to join our team. As a Research Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and optimizing custom PICs using physics-based modeling.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leverage software tools to layout PICs for quick-turn manufacturing at various MPW foundries
  • Work with materials scientists and additive manufacturing engineers to augment PICs with novel materials
  • Conduct benchtop validation testing of PICs
  • Develop independent research and development concepts and present/publish results in an effective and timely fashion
Requirements:
  • Hold a Master's degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering
  • Have 1+ year experience building integrated, fiber-optical, and free-space photonics systems
  • Be proficient in scientific programming tools like MATLAB and Python to analyze light propagation in photonics systems
  • Obtain an Interim Secret security clearance by start date and meet requirements for access to classified information
