Job Description:
Under the technical guidance of NRL, the

Atmospheric Research Scientist

will engage in fundamental and applied studies in areas such as atmospheric sciences and machine learning.

In this capacity, a typical day will involve:
Conducting foundational research in domains such as aerosol prediction systems and tropical cyclone analysis, participating in occasional field experiments, instrument calibration, and studying the optical characteristics of aerosols. This includes examining aerosol transport across various species over open waters and land, as well as engaging in work related to planetary boundary layers, source, transport, and sink functions, including cloud processing.

Analyzing biomass burning emissions, tropical meteorology, and cloud formations; developing code for testing, data distribution, and documentation; and participating in routine compliance projects and/or programs.

Collaborating with meteorologists, scientists, and other technical personnel to ensure that departmental activities align with client specifications and guidelines.

Establishing and implementing basic operational procedures to guarantee that meteorological data collection and processing meet NRL MMD standards.

Qualifications:
Active Secret clearance

Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of experience, or a Master's degree with 4 years of experience.

The expected salary range for this position is $100,300 - $135,700. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as it will be determined based on experience, geographic location, and possibly contractual requirements, which may result in compensation outside of this range.
