Position OverviewIn response to our ongoing expansion, TRC Field Services (FSV) is looking for dedicated Relay Test Technicians to join our Client Teams throughout the Northeast Region of the United States. These roles involve significant travel, with fieldwork expected to comprise 75% of your time.
With a team of over 200 skilled utility and industrial commissioning engineers and test technicians, TRC provides comprehensive, cost-effective solutions to our Electric Utility Customers while offering superior training programs and mentorship in the industry, along with numerous growth opportunities and competitive benefits.

Key ResponsibilitiesCore Duties
The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, testing, inspection, calibration, and repair of various system protection devices, transducers, and equipment, including microprocessor-based and electronic relays, circuits, protective controls, switchboards, and other substation apparatus within clients' electric transmission and distribution systems.
- Basic understanding of alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) principles and protection schemes.
- Proficient in interpreting construction and manufacturer specifications and drawings.
- Capable of reading and comprehending schematic diagrams.
- Ability to utilize a relay test set to verify protective device settings; familiarity with Doble Protest, SEL AcSELerator, and ENOSERVE RTS is advantageous.
- Competent in operating computers and related software necessary for fulfilling job responsibilities.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to troubleshoot, identify, and resolve issues promptly using sound judgment.
- Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills necessary for successful job performance.
- A valid driver's license issued by the state of residence in good standing is required.
Essential Qualifications
- An associate degree in industrial electrical, instrumentation and control, or electronics is preferred, along with two years of progressively responsible experience in system protection related to the installation and maintenance of electro-mechanical and electronic relays and control systems used by electric utilities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with Goose Messaging is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee will frequently be required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift up to one hundred pounds. The employee will also regularly need to stand, walk, sit, use hands to manipulate objects, and reach with hands and arms. The ability to lift or pull heavy cables and equipment weighing over 50 pounds, work at ground level, and in trenches or manholes is essential. Vision requirements include close, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Compensation: In accordance with local regulations, the salary range for this position is determined by the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based on experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
Additional Compensation: Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program, which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators that may vary each year.
