Volt is seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team in New Prague, MN. As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for working on all stages of a project, from development through installation and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:- Create plans, designs, and customer solutions for assigned products and projects.
- Develop and maintain process instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) based on customer specifications.
- Perform various calculations and analyses, including fluid flow analysis, heat leak, pressure vessel thickness, and piping and valve sizing.
- Assist designers in developing general arrangement and production/assembly drawings.
- Work with sales teams and customers to gain a better understanding of system requirements and their implications to the system design and proposed solution.
- Work with strategic suppliers to determine the correct components to be used in systems.
- Provide regular updates of design status, drawings, BOMs, and purchased equipment to project management.
- Work with the shop and project management to meet customer and engineering requirements for fabrication, assembly, and shipping.
- Support production personnel during fabrication.
- Conduct onsite field checkouts and commissioning of equipment.
- On occasion, support the Proposals Team with quotation assistance.
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in the engineering, design, fabrication, and commissioning of mechanical equipment used in the pressure vessel, boiler, or oil and gas industry.
- Working knowledge of industrial codes and common engineering practices used within the oil and gas industry.
- Experience with MathCAD calculation software.
- Experience with hands-on technical work that requires partnering with field operation and production staff.
- Experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks CAD modeling software, preferred.
- Experience with JD Edwards or other ERP and PDM software, preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Highly motivated self-starter and a team leader.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and manage multiple tasks.
- Understanding of heat transfer, structural analysis, and fluid flow.
- Basic understanding of cryogenic liquids, compressed gas, and their properties.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Salary: $95-107K annually
