Job Title: Project Engineer

At MDS Staffing, we are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team. As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for developing mechanical drawings on assigned projects and ensuring that accurate prints are completed according to customer specifications and timelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Obtain job sheets from sales quotations and prepare preliminary drawings based on quote specifications, verifying price quotations against mechanical design.
  • Conduct quality audits of projects in production by communicating daily with production staff on the manufacturing process, answering questions of production staff, and resolving production challenges with customers as necessary.
  • Prepare documentation for equipment, including parts lists, prints, and maintenance manuals, to ensure that customers have complete and accurate maintenance plans for the equipment.
  • Respond to customer equipment challenges by reviewing customer files, determining the nature of the challenge, and developing solutions to ensure that equipment operates properly and customers are satisfied.
  • Research and develop new equipment designs and improvements to existing products, as directed, to expand and improve the product line.
  • Prepare preliminary sales drawings by receiving quotations and submitting prints with quotations to customers to assist in closing sales.
Requirements:
  • One year certificate from college or technical school, with one year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience at a minimum.
  • Demonstrated ability to use computer-assisted engineering (CAE) systems and computer-assisted design systems in the design of various equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products.
Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Communicates well with groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Physical Demands:

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, or hear.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

Works near moving mechanical parts, works in high, precarious places, is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and is exposed to very noisy environments.
