Role Summary

The NGS Laboratory Specialist will be responsible for executing daily NGS experiments, which encompass sample preparation, library construction, quality control procedures, and the operation of various NGS instruments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize a computer-based laboratory management system to document data and conduct laboratory tests.
  • Execute experimental protocols employing molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA isolation, quantification, NGS library preparation, qPCR, and sequencing operations.
  • Prepare solutions, reagents, and stains in compliance with established laboratory protocols.
  • Oversee the performance and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Conduct routine repairs or replacements of standard components as necessary.
  • Manage inventory levels and procure materials and supplies following established guidelines.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with problematic samples and results.
  • Engage in effective communication with clients and colleagues to enhance existing processes.
  • Adapt to emerging services and technologies to support business growth.
  • Provide training and mentorship to new team members and subordinates.
  • Develop and revise protocols that align with CLIA, CAP, and ISO standards.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in biology or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of one year of laboratory experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with molecular biology and genetics/genomics, including DNA/RNA manipulation, NGS library preparation, quality control, and sequencing is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks and adhere to deadlines.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Korean is a plus.
