Role Overview: As a Lead Counselor, you will guide and mentor fellow counselors. Your responsibilities will include managing a personal caseload, participating in various facility committees, and executing additional management-related tasks as directed by the Clinical Supervisor or Clinical Director. Key Responsibilities:

Ensure the accurate completion of patient records, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other essential documentation in line with applicable federal and state regulations and agency policies. Provide clients with orientation regarding program objectives, requirements, rules, regulations, hours of service, patient rights, and additional information to assist them in adjusting to the program. Ensure each client is assessed and placed according to treatment phases in compliance with Federal and State standards and agency policies. Ensure all clinical documentation and patient charts are updated in accordance with established policies and procedures. Counsel clients in crisis situations by identifying available resources and coping strategies to assist them in managing and resolving crises. Counsel clients who have not complied with specific program requirements to enhance their understanding of the consequences of noncompliance. Facilitate referrals to other community agencies and resources when appropriate. Conduct treatment plan reviews. Participate in case conferences and reviews in accordance with established policies and procedures. Review counselor documentation and approve as directed by the Clinical Supervisor or Clinical Director. Assist in the overall direction and development of all substance abuse services. Participate in treatment team meetings and grievance hearings as necessary. Conduct or assist with weekly staff meetings with the counseling team. Assist with ongoing reviews of counselor case files to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and agency requirements. Support the Clinical Supervisor/Director with annual performance evaluations of counseling staff. Assist the Clinical Supervisor/Clinical Director as needed during inspections and staff meetings. Provide in-service training to clinical team members on a regular basis. Regularly monitor clinical records for quality and compliance with State and Federal regulations. Conduct mock inspections. Perform intakes on new clients. Develop preliminary and comprehensive treatment plans. Offer training and technical assistance to community agencies as requested. Provide guidance to counselors in managing challenging or complex clients. Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files for each client on your caseload and the team caseload in accordance with federal, state, and agency requirements. Oversee substance abuse counseling case assignments and discharges. Attend team meetings and complete all required training courses in a timely manner. Participate in ongoing training as required by the program and regulatory bodies. Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation Range:

$/hour to $/hour

Required Qualifications:

Must possess certification as an Alcohol and Other Drug Counselor from a California-approved certification agency or hold current credentials as licensed or license-eligible with the Board of Behavioral Sciences or the Board of Psychology. If license-eligible, must adhere to the Board's requirements, including receiving the necessary clinical supervision from a Board-approved supervisor. Proof of licensure or certification from a State-approved regulatory agency is required immediately upon employment. Employees must be credentialed prior to providing any counseling services as per the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS). Qualifications and supporting documentation will be reviewed for approval. Proficient in evaluating patients, treatment planning, and delivering counseling services. Knowledgeable about the use, abuse, and treatment of illicit drugs and addiction. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Professional demeanor and customer service skills. Competent in Microsoft Office applications. Proof of licensure or certification from a State-approved regulatory agency is required immediately upon employment. Employees must be credentialed prior to providing any counseling services as per the DHCS. Qualifications and supporting documentation will be reviewed for approval.
