Job Summary

The Clinical Support Specialist will be responsible for providing administrative and clinical support to the healthcare team at St. Charles Health System. This role will assist with daily patient flow, record and maintain patient medical data, and perform various tasks as requested by physicians.

Key Responsibilities

Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for physician assessment
Record and maintain patient medical data in patient medical charts
Assist physicians with answering phone requests from patients and/or other medical professionals and institutions
Perform various tasks as requested by physicians, including ancillary and/or surgical patient procedures

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
Current MA Certification from a recognized organization
Basic knowledge of ICD-10, CM/CPT/HCPCS coding conventions and procedures
Working knowledge of medical practice management information systems
Basic knowledge of physician office documentation standards

Preferred Qualifications

Two (2) years of Medical Assisting experience
Current American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) certification

Work Environment

The Clinical Support Specialist will work in a fast-paced healthcare environment, interacting with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality and meet all HIPAA requirements.

Physical Requirements

The Clinical Support Specialist will be required to stand and walk for long periods, use a computer and other office equipment, and lift up to 25 pounds. The ability to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is also required.

Schedule

The Clinical Support Specialist will work a variable schedule, including weekends and holidays, with a minimum of 30 hours per week. The ability to travel to business functions, trainings, and meetings is also required.
