Associate Director of Individual Giving and Major Gifts

Join the 5th Avenue Theatre team as we seek an experienced Associate Director of Individual Giving and Major Gifts to lead our philanthropy efforts. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for building and managing a portfolio of top-tier donors and prospects, developing and implementing strategic fundraising plans, and collaborating with colleagues to achieve our fundraising goals.
About the RoleThe Associate Director of Individual Giving and Major Gifts will play a critical role in advancing our mission to nurture, advance, and celebrate all aspects of the great art form: the musical. This position requires a proven track record of securing gifts, meeting goals, and increasing donor contributions year over year. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional skills in fostering relationships, establishing trust and rapport in business partnerships with diverse individuals, and engaging in skillful conversation with tact and sound judgment.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement strategic fundraising plans to achieve individual giving and major gifts goals
- Build and manage a portfolio of top-tier donors and prospects, including identifying and qualifying new prospects, preparing tailored solicitation proposals, and stewarding relationships
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement donor engagement events, including fundraising galas, dinners, and other cultivation activities
- Support the development team in achieving fundraising goals, including participating in donor activities, attending donor events, and undertaking additional duties or initiatives as assigned by the Director of Philanthropy
- Work collaboratively within the philanthropy team to grow support, uphold the mission and values, and contribute to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace
- Bachelor's degree in liberal arts, arts, or business administration; or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years proven track record of securing gifts, meeting goals, and increasing donor contributions year over year
- Demonstrated skills in successfully handling significant levels of responsibility, initiating and managing projects, and working both independently and collaboratively
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (particularly Word and Excel); experience with Tessitura preferred
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously, with great attention to detail, strong customer service skills, and a commitment to building a welcoming and inclusive space for internal/external patrons and stakeholders
The 5th Avenue Theatre offers a competitive salary range of $78,000 to $88,000, depending on experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.
