Overview of Responsibilities

This position is for a full-time Facilities Maintenance Technician. The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The role is essential for maintaining cleanliness and order in our facilities, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all users.

Work Schedule

Typical hours are from 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with summer hours adjusted to Monday through Thursday from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Key Responsibilities

The Facilities Maintenance Technician will:

  • Organize and oversee the work of custodial staff to ensure efficient coverage during regular hours, special events, and other activities.
  • Manage facility access, including opening and closing procedures, alarm system operations, and security checks.
  • Provide recommendations regarding personnel performance and potential disciplinary actions.
  • Respond to emergencies, including cleanup after incidents of vandalism.
  • Utilize various custodial equipment effectively, including buffers, vacuums, and other cleaning tools.
  • Conduct routine cleaning tasks across various facility areas, ensuring high standards of cleanliness.
  • Perform detailed cleaning of restrooms and common areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness in offices, furniture, and other surfaces, including dusting and waste disposal.
  • Be present and engaged during work hours, demonstrating commitment to the role.
  • Be available for overtime work as needed, whether scheduled or in response to emergencies.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment is essential, along with the ability to manage resources effectively. Candidates should be in good physical condition and capable of performing tasks that involve lifting, climbing, and working at heights. Previous supervisory experience and custodial work in an educational setting are preferred.

Physical Requirements

Applicants must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, as well as perform various physical activities including walking, pushing, pulling, climbing, and bending.

Work Environment

The role may involve exposure to noise, dust, and cleaning chemicals, and requires the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
