Job Title: Lead Mechanical Engineer Job Summary: Wood PLC is seeking a highly skilled Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Covington, LA. As a key member of our offshore brownfield asset retirement project, you will play a lead role in managing mechanical engineering efforts and developing innovative solutions to safely decommission offshore facilities while minimizing environmental impact and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Responsibilities: * Lead and oversee all mechanical engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, from concept development to execution and closeout. * Develop engineering design specifications, calculations, and drawings for offshore brownfield asset retirement activities, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. * Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and designers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development. * Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets, and ensure timely delivery of engineering deliverables. * Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and mitigation measures associated with decommissioning activities. * Review and evaluate vendor proposals and technical documentation to ensure alignment with project requirements and specifications. * Interface with clients, regulatory agencies, and third-party contractors to address technical inquiries, resolve engineering issues, and facilitate project approvals. * Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and HAZOP/HAZID sessions to ensure effective communication and coordination among project teams. * Monitor project progress and performance metrics, identifying opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvements. * Foster a culture of safety, quality, and environmental stewardship, ensuring that all engineering activities are conducted in accordance with company policies and procedures. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred. * Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification preferred. * Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical and piping engineering roles, with a focus on offshore oil and gas projects. * Demonstrated expertise in engineering design, analysis, and optimization of offshore facilities, including platforms, pipelines, and subsea infrastructure. * Proficiency in industry-standard software tools, such as AutoCAD, CAESAR II, and PDMS/AVEVA, for engineering design and analysis. * Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders. * Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a keen attention to detail and a focus on delivering high-quality engineering solutions. * Familiarity with industry regulations and standards governing offshore decommissioning activities, including API, ISO, and OSHA requirements. * Willingness to travel to offshore facilities and project sites as needed to support engineering activities and project execution.
