Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, and develop Accounting department employees.
  • Work with operations to ensure all business activity is posted correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Responsible for various regulatory, governmental, and banking compliance reporting.
  • Oversee the monthly financial close process.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and regulatory reporting.
  • Assist in the development of departmental/organizational policies and procedures.
  • Assist with tariff rate filings.
  • Organize and plan financial statement audit, employee benefit plan audit, and other various audit work.
  • Review and update monthly closing procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • 5+ years Public Accounting experience.
  • 3 years Supervisory Experience.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications with ability to learn industry-specific software.
  • Knowledge of computerized and manual accounting systems.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Understanding of regulatory accounting and ratemaking preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Skilled in organizing work materials and time.
  • Ability to document and explain complex accounting transactions.
  • Ability to incorporate industry changes into business processes and financials.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of tax accounting preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Preferred or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) Preferred.
