Job Overview:

Under the supervision of the shift manager, the Custodial Services Worker will be accountable for comprehensive cleaning services within the facility. Responsibilities also include assisting with the arrangement and dismantling of meeting spaces, exhibit areas, catered functions, ballrooms, and other venues within the premises.

Preferred Experience with Cleaning Equipment:
  • Stripping, cleaning, buffing, and applying floor sealers and finishes to hard surfaces, as well as vacuuming and shampooing carpets.
  • Utilizing and maintaining assigned power tools and hand equipment, including buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high-pressure washers, high-speed buffers, vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the upkeep of floors, walls, carpets, and furniture.
  • Washing walls and equipment; using ladders as necessary for work tasks.
  • Conducting cleaning and related activities such as snow or debris removal from sidewalks and stairs within proximity to buildings using hand-operated tools or small power equipment.
  • Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of cleaning equipment.
  • Operating machinery designated for custodial duties.
  • Additional responsibilities and tasks as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Sanitizing restrooms and bathrooms following established protocols.
  • Cleaning, dusting, and wiping down furniture; sweeping, mopping, or vacuuming floors; emptying and cleaning wastebaskets and trash containers; replacing light bulbs; refilling restroom supplies.
  • Assisting with the setup and teardown of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, and events.
  • Adhering to instructions regarding the use of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
  • Securing assigned buildings: ensuring security when facilities are not in use by checking for unlocked doors and windows, reporting any unauthorized individuals, and turning off lights.
  • Managing recycling materials.
  • Assisting with inventory management and security.
  • Upholding departmental and organizational standards, procedures, and policies.
  • Guiding new employees in acclimating to the center and providing on-the-job demonstrations and coaching.
  • Additional responsibilities and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: One (1) year of custodial experience or equivalent as approved by management. Experience in the hospitality sector is advantageous.
  • Skills: Essential physical and mental capabilities in areas such as interpersonal skills, memory, attention to detail, following directions, comprehension, calculation, reading, writing, speaking, evaluation, mathematics, organization, and innovation.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with methods, tools, materials, and equipment used; applicable safety codes and regulations.
  • Communication Skills: Strong oral, written, and listening abilities; attention to detail is crucial.
  • Customer Focus: Committed to meeting the expectations and requirements of both internal and external customers; establishes and maintains effective relationships while earning their trust and respect.
  • Organizational Skills: Efficiently utilizes resources and time.
  • Problem Solving: Capable of resolving issues with effective solutions.
  • Teamwork: Fosters strong morale and spirit within the team; interacts effectively and tactfully with departmental personnel and the public.
  • Special Requirements: Valid Driver's License, power-assisted equipment licensing required, customer service training is a plus.
