Job Description

This role exists to create preference and active-users in law schools and law firms in an assigned territory by assessing the needs of the customer, developing school & firm-specific business plans, and educating customers on the advantages of LexisNexis products and services. The Practice Area Consultant will partner with the commercial account team to maximize contract renewals by ensuring the customer is receiving value from our products and service.

About the Job

This position requires a Juris Doctorate degree and strong sales experience. The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to work independently and own a territory.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assess the needs of customers and develop school- and firm-specific business plans.
  2. Educate customers on the advantages of LexisNexis products and services.
  3. Partner with the commercial account team to maximize contract renewals.
  4. Work at all levels of a law school and law firm, including students, faculty, associates, partners, librarians, and leadership.
  5. Analyze competitive threats and develop strategies to recognize sales opportunities and target specific sales activities.
  6. Manage law school accounts independently and partner with law firm client managers to overcome customer challenges and effectively position them to close significant opportunities.
  7. Demonstrate deep product knowledge and act as an internal resource for sales, marketing, and segment teams.
  8. Prepare and deliver presentations to communicate the value proposition and competitive differentiators to create new active users.
  9. Conduct competitive research and analysis and share information with product, segment, and marketing teams.
  10. Develop marketing strategies to position LexisNexis as the superior source in meeting the needs of students, faculty, and staff at law schools and partners, associates, and staff at law firms.
  11. Target, hire, and manage student workers to assist in the accomplishment of goals at law schools.
