Job Purpose

The Assistant General Manager is a key role in our team, responsible for supporting the General Manager in all aspects of course operations. This includes maintaining and expanding membership, generating revenue, managing budget and staff, and ensuring exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the General Manager in daily operations, acting as manager on duty when necessary
  • Maintain and expand membership by addressing member and guest concerns and issues
  • Foster open communication with members and guests through regular visibility
  • Generate revenue by overseeing the reservation system, reviewing daily utilization levels, and implementing promotions and demand management strategies
  • Use the Point of Sale system for processing purchases and credit card transactions
  • Answer the telephone and manage the reservation system
  • Implement tee sheet demand management and demand generation strategies to optimize revenue
  • Assist in budget and expense management by utilizing labor scheduling tools and reviewing financial reports
  • Manage staff by conducting meetings, acting as a role model, and ensuring standards are met
  • Work closely with department heads to manage facilities and ensure exceptional service
  • Follow safety guidelines and investigate security concerns
  • Implement and support American Golf initiatives and programs as requested
Qualifications
  • 5 years of management experience in the golf or hospitality industry
  • Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Office and CRM systems
  • Familiarity with managing a timekeeping system and social media platforms
  • Solid time management, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Proven ability to build and foster a team environment
  • Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • PGA or LPGA certification recommended
  • Valid driver's license required
Working Conditions
  • Varied schedule and hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Physical demands include standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Exposure to outside weather conditions and potential hazards
