Position Overview
We are looking for a Director of Accounting to oversee all financial activities and human resource functions. This role reports directly to the President and plays a crucial part in maintaining the financial integrity of the organization.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining general ledger accounts and ensuring accurate reconciliation of accounts payable and receivable.
  • Overseeing timely corporate tax filings and payments.
  • Collaborating with external accounting firms during year-end processes, providing necessary financial documentation.
  • Managing year-end close procedures and ensuring compliance with various regulatory requirements.
  • Preparing and tracking contracts for boat storage and mooring rentals, including billing and payment follow-ups.
  • Conducting bank reconciliations and managing loan payments and sales tax obligations.
  • Processing payroll and handling related reporting and compliance.
  • Administering human resource functions, including personnel file management and benefits administration.
  • Ensuring compliance with Worker's Compensation regulations and conducting necessary audits.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and office administration, preferably in a fast-paced family-owned environment.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, including QuickBooks, and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with a strong emphasis on confidentiality.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred.
  • A collaborative spirit and a positive attitude towards the unique challenges of working in a dynamic environment.
