Job Summary

The Philosophy and Religious Studies Department at Marist College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Philosophy. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate philosophy courses at all levels, including Introduction to Philosophy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach a range of philosophy courses, including introductory and advanced courses
  • Develop and maintain a research program in Global Philosophy, with a focus on one or more of the following areas: environmental ethics, contemporary ethical theory, philosophy of law, philosophy of race, philosophy of science, and empirical moral psychology
  • Contribute to the Department's First Year Seminar program and the Honors Program
  • Participate in departmental and school-wide service activities
Requirements
  • PhD in Philosophy or a related field
  • Teaching experience and evidence of teaching effectiveness at the college level
  • A strong commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduates
