About the Position

We are seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Director of Custody Health Services for the County of Santa Clara. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team of healthcare professionals in providing high-quality care to incarcerated individuals in our custody.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Custody Health Services team, ensuring the delivery of safe, timely, and effective care to patients.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare services, including the development of clinical protocols and policies.
  • Collaborate with the Custody Bureau and other stakeholders to ensure the delivery of comprehensive care to patients, including medical, mental health, and substance abuse services.
  • Oversee the management of the Custody Health Services budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and proactive allocation of resources.
  • Develop and maintain a culture of empathy, professionalism, and learning within the Custody Health Services team.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in a related field and a minimum of 10 years of progressive management experience in a large custodial system or a division in a public health and/or health system providing medical care, mental health, alcohol, drug, and/or behavioral health services. A medical or nursing license is preferred.

The candidate will have knowledge of the principles of health and hospital system organization and administration, including the principles of custodial healthcare service planning, organization, and delivery. They will also have experience with the full range of business functions and systems, including strategic development and planning, budgeting, business analysis, finance, information systems, human resources, and marketing.

The candidate will be able to manage and lead people, think strategically, and make good decisions through a combination of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment. They will also be able to balance the delivery of programs against the realities of a budget and keep abreast of current concepts in custody health services and health system administration.
