Kaiser Permanente is looking for a Sterile Processing Technician Level II to join our team in San Diego, California.

Position Overview

The Sterile Processing Technician Level II plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and sterility of medical instruments and supplies used in patient care. This position involves the decontamination, preparation, sterilization, storage, and distribution of medical equipment and supplies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collects contaminated instruments and supplies, adhering to aseptic protocols.
  • Disassembles and cleans medical instruments, ensuring compliance with established standards.
  • Utilizes approved disinfectants and cleaning methods, including ultrasound cleaning.
  • Assembles, inspects, and dates medical instruments and supplies.
  • Operates various sterilization equipment, including EtO, Steam Steris, and Sterrad sterilizers.
  • Conducts biological testing and maintains accurate sterilization records.
  • Coordinates the delivery of processed items to respective departments.
  • Manages inventory tracking and maintains stock levels of medical supplies.
  • Promotes exceptional customer service and maintains a clean and safe working environment.
  • Reports equipment issues to supervisors and performs additional duties as required.
Qualifications

Experience: Not applicable.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Licensure/Certification: Must obtain Registered Central Service Technician Certificate within three months of hire.

Additional Skills
  • Familiarity with surgical instruments across various surgical services.
  • Ability to operate sterilization and cleaning equipment effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with proficiency in computer usage.

Notes: This position may require rotating weekend shifts.
