Position: Inspector

We are currently seeking an Inspector to oversee projects in various regions.

Key Responsibilities:

The Inspector will play a crucial role in ensuring contractor compliance by reviewing, interpreting, and enforcing plans and contract documents. The responsibilities include:

  • Independently planning, coordinating, inspecting, and supervising project inspection activities related to roadways, structures, and bridges.
  • Monitoring contractors and schedules to guarantee quality control and adherence to contract specifications for moderate to complex construction projects.
  • Utilizing knowledge and experience to inspect roadways and bridges in accordance with established standards and specifications.
  • Applying engineering principles in the inspection and documentation of construction processes.
  • Recommending modifications to construction plans to align with field conditions or achieve cost efficiencies.
  • Reviewing and overseeing EEO/DBE documentation to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Directing and evaluating the work of Inspectors and Inspector Trainees.
  • Maintaining thorough project records and documentation using project management software.
  • Conducting material testing in accordance with relevant testing procedures.
  • Implementing Best Management Practices for environmental inspections in line with established standards.
  • Ensuring safety activities adhere to Best Management Practices.
  • Communicating effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Assisting in the development of change orders and analyzing Notices of Intent to File Claims.
Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for the Inspector position should possess:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in roadway or bridge construction inspection.
  • Current certifications or the ability to obtain the following:
  • ACI
  • Hydraulic Cement Concrete Field - VDOT
  • Soils and Aggregate - VDOT
  • ESC Inspector - DEQ
  • SWM Inspector - DEQ
  • Pavement Marking - VDOT
  • Intermediate Work Zone - VDOT
  • Flagger - VDOT
  • Guardrail Installation (GRIT) - VDOT
  • Asphalt Field Levels I and II - VDOT
  • Slurry Surfacing - VDOT
  • Surface Treatment - VDOT
  • 10-hour OSHA Safety
  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Proficiency in operating computer equipment and software, including Microsoft Office Suite, as well as field-testing equipment.
  • A valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
  • The ability and willingness to work day and night shifts.
  • Capability to pass a criminal background check.
