Program Overview:
Multisystemic Therapy (MST) is a research-supported therapeutic framework designed to deliver community-based interventions for families of youth involved or at risk of involvement in the juvenile justice system, thereby minimizing the likelihood of out-of-home placements.
MST emphasizes addressing the youth (ages 12 – 17) within their natural environment by tackling the multifaceted factors influencing their behaviors across family, peer, educational, and community contexts.
As an MST Family Support Specialist, you will engage with primary caregivers and other essential participants to devise and execute strategies aimed at enhancing school attendance and performance, reducing substance use, fostering positive social connections, and improving family dynamics.
Role Details:- Manage a caseload of 4-5 families, with intensive treatment necessitating meetings with each family at least three times weekly.
- Create tailored treatment plans for each case, conducting ongoing assessments and reviews of treatment progress regularly.
- Document all sessions within a pre-established timeframe using web-based documentation, with many locations offering voice-recognition technology.
- Provide after-hours support to youth and families on a rotating on-call schedule.
- Travel up to 60-80 miles to meet families in their homes.
- Deliver treatment in various family home settings across diverse communities.
- Collaborate closely with multiple types of clinical supervision provided in both individual and group formats led by trained and licensed MST professionals, with progress reviews occurring at frequent intervals.
- Establish strong community relationships and resources to support families as part of the treatment process.
Additional Information:
- The schedule is flexible and non-traditional, tailored around the availability of the youth and families served.
- Applicants must possess a valid driver's license, a personal vehicle for work purposes, and auto insurance.
- Community-based staff will be reimbursed for applicable mileage.
Compensation:
- Salary: $58,000 per year, commensurate with education and clinical licensure.
Qualifications:
Requirements:
- A Master's degree in a social services field is preferred.
- A Bachelor's degree in a social services field is required.
Considered Degrees:
- Social Work, Drug and Alcohol Education or Counseling, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Guidance Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy. Other degrees will be evaluated to determine qualification.
- Experience working with at-risk youth and/or families in volunteer, internship, or paid roles; clinical experience is preferred.
- Willingness to maintain a non-traditional schedule.
- Strong writing skills and experience with electronic documentation.
- Acceptable driving record: Three or fewer moving violations within the past 36 months.
