We are seeking a dedicated Healthcare Support Specialist to join our team. This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt role.

The Center for Family Health operates as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and is committed to providing comprehensive healthcare services. Our multi-disciplinary clinic encompasses specialties such as Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Obstetrics/Gynecology. Over the years, we have significantly expanded our services, which now include medical, dental, pharmacy, and support services, along with several school-based health centers.

Position Responsibilities:

The Healthcare Support Specialist plays a vital role in assisting healthcare providers in delivering high-quality services to patients and their families. Collaboration with the Center's support staff is essential.

This position requires a team-oriented approach, focusing on holistic patient care and effective communication among team members to address the diverse needs of our patients.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Welcome patients warmly and professionally, utilizing exceptional customer service skills.
  • Utilize various integrated computer applications effectively.
  • Prepare for patient visits by completing necessary pre-charting tasks.
  • Conduct thorough patient rooming procedures, including gathering medical history, vital signs, and Point of Care Testing (POCT).
  • Set up examination rooms with appropriate equipment and supplies.
  • Explain procedures and tests to patients, providing relevant information.
  • Facilitate communication between patients and providers during visits.
  • Execute provider orders promptly, including injections and monitoring vital signs.
  • Manage patient paperwork and electronic medical records efficiently.
  • Process prescription requests in a timely manner.
  • Assist providers during medical procedures as needed.
  • Ensure accurate labeling and processing of tests and specimens.
  • Perform venipuncture when required.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and exam rooms.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to all regulations, policies, and work practices.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a formal medical assisting or practical nursing program preferred.
  • Certification (CMA) or Registration (RMA) or Licensure (LPN) is desirable.
  • Prior experience as a medical assistant is advantageous.
  • BLS certification or the ability to obtain it is necessary.
