Position Summary
The Custodial Maintenance Specialist is responsible for performing essential cleaning tasks, including dusting, mopping, floor finishing and buffing, vacuuming, and shampooing carpets, as well as cleaning and replenishing restroom supplies.
Compensation: $4.22 H&W
Work Schedule: 40 hours/week
Work Environment: Float Position - will serve various locations.
Team Dynamics: This role requires independent work.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct general custodial tasks, including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, restroom cleaning, and restocking supplies.
- Perform routine maintenance on custodial equipment and supplies.
- Manage waste disposal by emptying trash receptacles and ensuring proper disposal.
- Secure areas by unlocking and locking doors as necessary.
- Communicate needs and concerns to the Project Manager, including supply level checks.
- Ensure proper usage and maintenance of equipment and supplies while promoting workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Assist in training new staff on standard procedures.
- Execute cleaning tasks specific to assigned facilities or seasonal/project needs.
- Carry out miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Less than high school education; no prior experience required. Completed degrees from accredited institutions exceeding the minimum educational requirement may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to comprehend verbal instructions.
- Understanding and adherence to safety protocols.
- Proficiency in operating vacuums and related equipment.
- Safe handling of cleaning tools and supplies.
- Capability to use hand and power tools relevant to the trade.
- Physical ability to lift and manage heavy items.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and enforce safety procedures.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Distinctive Features
This position entails: a) regular custodial tasks such as dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and restroom cleaning; b) routine maintenance of custodial equipment; and c) operation of power equipment for floor buffing and carpet shampooing.
Employment Conditions
- Must meet program eligibility criteria.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal background check is required.
- Must pass a government background check to obtain necessary access credentials.
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are mandatory.
