Job Overview

Job Summary: This position requires the safe and efficient transportation of patients in a wheelchair-accessible van, as well as assisting patients at the beginning and end points of their destinations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive patients safely from pick-up to drop-off points.
  • Interface professionally with patients, facilities, families, and the public.
  • Assist patients in moving from beds and chairs to a wheelchair.
  • Perform daily maintenance checks on assigned vehicles.
  • Navigate throughout Maine, New Hampshire, and other distant destinations efficiently, using GPS units when necessary.
  • Maintain cell phone communication with dispatch and corporate office as needed.
  • Be prepared to work extended shifts or come in early to meet service needs.
  • Lift and carry patient belongings.
  • Wash and clean vehicles daily.
  • Dress according to and adhere to NEMHS uniform policy.
  • Wear personal protective equipment when necessary to protect from OPIM.
  • Assist staff at facilities with properly outfitting patients for transport in varying weather.
  • Treat patients with compassion, understanding, respect, dignity, and professionalism.
  • Secure patients in vehicles as taught in training.
