Position Summary

The Cost Estimator plays a crucial role in the design and specification of Voice Data Systems. This position involves the assembly of material and labor estimates for various proposals and bids, ensuring that all installations meet client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support business operations in the local area, focusing on design, engineering, and installation of Building Automated Systems.
  • Contribute to the development of a managed service department and extended warranty offerings, presenting designs to clients.
  • Collaborate with the sales team during client meetings and presentations.
  • Conduct thorough voice and data bidding processes for clients, covering low voltage wiring, equipment setup, and system processing.
  • Participate in relevant meetings as required.
  • Work closely with Sales, Project Management, Purchasing, Service, and Fabrication teams to interpret project specifications, develop system layouts, and create comprehensive bills of materials.
  • Design building layouts and floor plans using various formats.
  • Prepare job packets that include detailed bills of materials, equipment order sheets, scopes of work, and safety requirements.
  • Conduct final drawing reviews and document the process.
  • Provide ongoing support and service to clients post-installation.
  • Maintain clear communication with Project Managers and Executives regarding project statuses.
  • Ensure daily updates on project progress with all relevant departments.
  • Exhibit a professional appearance and foster positive customer interactions.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations and training protocols.
  • Encourage a positive work environment and support work-life balance initiatives.
  • Keep all bids updated in the Sales Now system to ensure accuracy.
  • Attend project kickoff meetings to clarify project requirements with the operations team.
  • Engage with manufacturers and distributors to secure optimal pricing and project protection.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must reside in the local area.

Education and Experience:

  • At least one year of experience in estimation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
