Position Overview
As a Lead Applications Engineer at Astera Labs, you will collaborate with the foremost cloud service providers and server/network OEMs to design and implement solutions utilizing our extensive portfolio of connectivity products. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for identifying and comprehending customer needs, proposing tailored Astera Labs solutions that deliver tangible value, and offering hands-on design-in support. Your insights will drive innovation by capturing customer requirements, liaising with our engineering teams to influence the product roadmap, and delivering impactful results back to our clients.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; a Master's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience working with cloud service providers and server OEMs to integrate complex SoC/silicon products for server and/or networking applications.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with the capability to provide concise notes and actionable items.
- Customer-focused, goal-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently while traveling frequently to client sites.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with an open attitude and a proactive approach, always considering the customer's perspective.
Required Expertise
- Hands-on experience and comprehensive knowledge of high-speed protocols such as PCIe and Ethernet.
- Experience in silicon/system bring-up and debugging within customer environments.
- Proficiency with lab equipment, including protocol analyzers and oscilloscopes.
- A solid foundation in high-speed board design techniques and an understanding of data center systems, including servers, JBOGs/JBODs, and networking switches/routers.
- Intermediate proficiency in Python for automating system validation and optimizing links.
- Able to navigate embedded firmware at the SerDes (SoC) or MCU level for debugging purposes.
- Direct experience with lab equipment, including traffic generators, analyzers, and high-speed oscilloscopes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of high-speed interfaces at the physical layer, associated standards, and debugging techniques, with recent experience in 12G NRZ signaling and familiarity with 25G NRZ/56G PAM4 preferred.
- Experience in the development and support of PCIe ICs.
- Background in embedded software debugging or development, including firmware, drivers, and BIOS using PCIe technology.
- Familiarity with software/firmware build environments, including gcc/Make and GitHub.
- Knowledge of simulation/modeling, schematic capture, and PCB layout tools from Cadence, Altium, and others.
- Experience with simulation tools such as Keysight ADS and Mathworks QCD for IBIS-AMI analysis.
The base salary range is competitive and will be determined based on your location, experience, and the compensation of employees in similar roles.
