Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented graduate student to join our team as a Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) in the Physical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy group. The selected candidate will work with our team of scientists on various projects, performing hands-on laboratory work involving chemical synthesis, laser spectroscopy, high magnetic fields, energetic materials, and/or radiological materials.

Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory work involving chemical synthesis, laser spectroscopy, high magnetic fields, energetic materials, and/or radiological materials.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the division on various projects.
  • Contribute to the development of new research ideas and techniques.
  • Present research findings in a clear and concise manner.
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in a PhD program in the physical sciences (chemistry, physics, optical science, etc.) or a related field.
  • Must be enrolled in 6 semester credit hours (or full-time equivalent).
  • Must currently have and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbal and written) well in a professional scientific context.
  • Commitment to achieving results in a complex social and organizational setting.
