Position Overview:

The Solar Project Engineer role is an essential component of the project team, tasked with crafting project designs, specifications, and cost assessments while providing technical support during the construction phase of utility-scale solar and energy storage initiatives. This position engages in projects from the initial development stages through to construction and the final transition to the Asset Management division.

Key Responsibilities: (includes but is not limited to):

  • Design and engineering of large-scale photovoltaic and energy storage systems, emphasizing value-driven engineering and system performance enhancement.
  • Prepare detailed design packages suitable for permitting and construction.
  • Establish project-specific technical requirements, specifications, and scopes of work.
  • Collaborate with external consultants, engineers, electric utilities, and other stakeholders.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, and operational strategies.
  • Generate project cost estimates and assist in project procurement.
  • Assess and analyze new and emerging technologies and equipment.
  • Develop bid solicitation packages for critical equipment and contract labor.
  • Oversee contractor requests for information (RFIs) and submittals.
  • Conduct site quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) activities.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by Agilitas.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficient in AutoCAD.
  • Experience with PVSyst or similar energy modeling applications.
  • Fundamental understanding of the solar and energy storage design and construction processes.
  • Exceptional time management and workload prioritization abilities.
  • Strong technical skills with a knack for delivering innovative solutions.
  • Self-motivated, driven, and capable of working independently.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to follow-through.
  • Capability to interpret electrical, mechanical, civil, and architectural drawings.
  • Strong work ethic with a dedication to advancing renewable energy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Project and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, preferably in Civil or Electrical Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in solar PV and energy storage engineering, development, or construction.
  • Experience with design/build commercial or industrial construction projects and contracts.
  • OSHA 10-hour Construction Card is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Building and Electrical codes.
