Senior ETL Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior ETL Lead to join our Corporate Finance Technology function at New York Life Insurance Company. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering end-to-end ETL solutions and enhancements for various initiatives, ensuring re-use, scalability, reliability, and alignment with our company's vision and strategy.
Key Responsibilities:- Work closely with Business Analysts and Data Modelers to review business requirements, understand business processes, data entities, data producers, consumers, and data dependencies between departments.
- Balance various and conflicting support priorities, applying data analysis, data modeling, and quality assurance techniques to establish, modify, or maintain data structures and associated components.
- Design, code, test, correct, and document complex programs or processes and scripts from agreed specifications, using agreed standards and tools, to achieve a well-engineered result.
- Oversee team activities related to coding, unit testing, system testing, resolve defects originating during system test, and deploy fixes for defects when needed.
- Investigate production data issues and provide workarounds/fixes for issues in an SME role.
- Lead successful design and implementations of ETL processes of NYL Finance Technology ETL platform by managing expectations and risks, ensuring appropriate organizational structures, principles, tools, and responsibilities.
- Function as a bridge between technical and business audiences during solution planning, development, and deployment.
- Potentially lead the team of ETL and Integration developers & consultants and own end-to-end delivery of all efforts & projects.
- Understand business logic and implement measures to ensure data accuracy and accessibility.
- Deliver on time and with high-level quality as per SLA through project life cycle.
- Lead business intelligence application solutions delivery across multiple programs/projects in the portfolio.
- Review and analyze business requirements and provide technical feasibility and estimates with regards to data access, extracts, and transformations.
- Making modifications to existing applications and modules in accordance with written specifications.
- Work closely with the QA/Testing team to help identify/implement defect reduction initiatives.
- Work closely with the Architecture team to make sure architecture standards and principles are followed during development.
- Take part in code reviews and maintain all documentation.
- Will need to engage with Project Managers, Business Analysts, and Application DBA to implement ETL Solutions.
- Must be able to multi-task between various tasks and projects.
- Ability to work across multiple projects with a variety of individuals and groups.
- Design and develop scalable integration solutions, preferably using MuleSoft.
- Coordinate with business and IT teams to ensure MuleSoft implementations align with business objectives.
- Ensure adherence to MuleSoft best practices.
- Actively participate in knowledge sharing within the team.
- Stay updated with DataStage and MuleSoft advancements and industry trends.
- Extensive Data Warehousing Experience, having Big Data or Hadoop is a plus.
- Strong development experience with DataStage, having Big Integrate is a plus.
- Good experience with writing complex SQL, PL/SQL queries around Data Analysis, Data Lineage & Reconciliation preferably in Oracle.
- 9+ years of creating Data Lineage documents, Source to Target (STM) Mapping documents, and Low-Level Technical Specification Documents.
- 9+ Years of design and implementation of ETL/ELT framework for complex warehouses/data marts.
- 6+ Years of DataStage 8.7 or Higher.
- 6+ Years of DataStage Parallel Job Design.
- Hands-on development mentality, with a willingness to troubleshoot and solve complex problems.
- Assess requirements for completeness and accuracy.
- Conduct impact assessment and determine size of effort based on requirements.
- Identify, recommend, and implement ETL processes and architecture improvements.
- Assist and verify design of solution and production of all design phase deliverables.
- Identify bugs when developers are not able to do so.
- Manage build phase and quality assure code to ensure fulfilling requirements and adhering to ETL architecture.
- Resolve difficult design and development issues.
- Drive the build and testing teams coordinating the day-to-day project activities for the team.
- Have expertise in ETL and Integration tools (preferably DataStage, AWS Glue & MuleSoft).
- Strong Oracle/MSSQL, UNIX, and Windows experience.
- Led and governed a team of ETL developers working on multiple projects/products.
- Drove and maintained complex multi-year business outcome-driven roadmaps.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- Full life cycle software development experience.
- Keen ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments.
- Ideally, you will also have a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, Mathematics, or related field preferred.
- 15+ years overall IT industry experience, with 7+ years in a Lead role.
- Experience working as an Analyst, Developer & Tech Lead for Finance applications and Financial Modeling related positions within a financial services or technology firm, life insurance industry experience is a plus.
- Considerable experience in coming up with new technical design concepts that would help in performance improvements in both ETL(DataStage) and Integration (MuleSoft) domains.
- Good working knowledge and understanding of the latest cloud computing and data technologies (like AWS Glue), business drivers, emerging computing trends, and deployment options.
- Preferable to have knowledge of Life Insurance Industry, On-site/Off-site Development Model, SAP, and MuleSoft.
