Job Summary:
Rural Health Group is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Service Representative to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to our patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to telephone inquiries from patients and their families in a friendly and professional manner.
- Provide information on our healthcare services, policies, and procedures.
- Collect, enter, and update patient demographic information into our electronic health record system.
- Refer patients to our nursing staff for triage and medical advice.
- Schedule appointments and handle cancellations.
- Make reminder calls for next-day appointments and inform patients of any necessary items to bring.
- Communicate with patients about requirements for their next visit, such as paying outstanding balances.
- Explain clinic regulations, such as hours, payment of accounts, and schedule of charges.
- Reduce barriers by improving linkages to our healthcare services.
- Participate in internal and external educational opportunities relevant to the healthcare industry.
- Respond to irate callers in a professional manner.
- Support organizational changes and demonstrate flexibility in providing coverage and/or availability for the call center.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Requirements:
- Experience in a call center environment is required.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred, but not required.
- Experience in an outpatient medical office setting is preferred.
- Experience with electronic health records is a plus.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a potentially stressful environment.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding when carrying out detailed written or oral instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive, effective, professional relationships with patients, providers, coworkers, and superiors.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to maintain patient respect and dignity while displaying maturity, empathy, ethics, and professionalism.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Possess knowledge of modern office equipment and basic computer skills.
